Pictures in Childress, TX

The "streamline" camper with clothes on the clothesline had to be photographed!

We found an "old car" museum but there were so many cars, there's no way we could have captured them all on camera.

Quite a painting on the side of a big building

and this drive thru is offering Burgers, Barbecue, Catfish and Shrimp. Welcome to Texas!

Wednesday morning. 11-30-11

Hello there!

Was having second thoughts about blogging until our friend John Huggins gave us some excellent, tried and true advice. Here on the blog we can most easily track, maintain our travels. (Thank you John!)

Last night we stayed at Best Western RV Park in Childress, TX. The park has 6 sites. Yes, six. haha. And it's right next to a pretty busy highway so we heard 'them truckers rollin'' all night long but got a good night's sleep in spite of that. Also, as I look at the window above DB's chair to the right of the camper, there are COWS GRAZING!!! I could pass out! I love it! So far I've restrained myself from going out there and yelling, "Good morning cowy cowy!" ha.

This RV Park is part of the Best Western Motel so they additionally offer their continental breakfast to the RV'ers for the nightly price of $25 + tax. There are no restroom/shower-type facilities which is insignificant if your RV is equipped with that stuff.

We are going to stay here another night, even though the weather forecast says tomorrow's high is 40* !!!! WHA???? FORTY?!!!!! You'd think we were still in South Dakota!!

Today we assembled the VERY COOL bottled water dispenser that John & Mandy gave us. It is sooooooo cool! Can't wait to buy a big ole jug of water and place on the base/stand.

Tomorrow we will travel to Granbury (Ft. Worth area) which is about a 4.5 hour trip.
REALLY looking FORWARD to seeing FAMILY as I am so terribly MISSING FAMILY! Two opposite ends of the nation but family is family. ;)

We made it to Garden City, KS !!

Finally! We made it! Now sitting here with my new "Snuggy" and of course, on Black Friday, Mary insisted I get the KERMIT design. So me and Kermie having a cup of tea. Miss Piggy won't be happy when she hears about THIS shenanigans!!!

The Dodge rolled right along today and our worst gas mileage was 12.9 per gallon, so DB was happy. The best mileage (for those of you who care) was 14-something. DB did an EXCELLENT job driving that big beastly truck and never complained once about being tired, even though he has a terrible head cold!

Then once we got here to the RV Park, I was absolutely amazed at all the work he has to do in order to get this house-on-wheels set up!! It's unbelieveable! Again, no complaints at all from him. He's really something.

We're probably going to stay here 2 nights so we can check out the area. Neither of us have been here before so we think that's a pretty good plan.

I told him today that I had forgotten the instructions on how to complete a crocheted prayer shawl I am making ..... that I had left them in my other crochet bag "at home." Then I grinned and said, "But it's right there behind us in the camper!!!! THAT is home!" Loved it.

DB just spoke to my brother John and we are REALLY looking forward to seeing them the end of this week. A really COOL side note is that John (our son) is in Dallas this week for work, so we'll get to see him too!!

And.......... I am so excited, that DB and I are going to go to Dallas to The Potter's House on Sunday, with pastor "Bishop TD Jakes." I know I know. I'm going to seize out in the parking lot and will have to be carried in on a stretcher. j/k hehehehehe

Okay - "over and out" for now in Garden City, KS. Will keep you all posted!!

THANK YOU FOR READING! We miss EVERYONE!!!! xoxoxoxoxo

Southbound on HWY 83

White River SD..... On the Rosebud Reservation..... Sun shining beautifully. I have Internet with my MiFi !!!

Eastbound on I-90

6:51 a.m. And we are about about 20 miles east of Rapid City. Checked the air pressure in tires on both vehicles. Just realized we are driving along the Interstate and we have our house with us!!

Getting ready to leave......

Said goodbye today to all these little angels. WOW, very tough.

I have to keep reminding myself that it's temporary and that DB and I are starting out on a new adventure *together* !

Our plan is to leave in the morning (Monday) at 5:00 a.m. and go east on I-90 to Murdo where we will turn south on Highway 83 and hopefully get to Garden City, KS before bedtime.

I miss everyone already. More than I can describe.

SNOW on the camper........

THIS is why we are looking forward to pulling out of Hart Ranch one week from today, Monday, Nov. 28th.

It is CHILLY WILLY in the camper as snow doesn't make for the best insulation!!

For the remained of this week temps are forecast in the 50*s ..... thank Heavens!

Had a brief but SWEET visit with the grandkids last night and today. Taking advantage of any time available with them this week.

3 sleeps til Thanksgiving and 4 sleeps til Black Friday!

Count down.........

In a few days we'll be flying to Mexico for a week to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this year and then return home the 20th to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday in Rapid City.

Monday the 28th we'll be leaving for the winter, traveling south to Texas to see my brother and then will "land" in Benson, AZ until January 20th.

I'm posting a picture of Benson taken recently by our friends John and Kathy Huggins who are currently living at this RV park.

The week of the 28th I will be posting and updating this blog often, telling of our "pit stops" along the way and hopefully will have some pictures to share too!

Love, Peej
