LOVE TUCSON !!!!

Yesterday was such FUN!! You can see who is having the MOST fun. haha.
We spent the day in Tucson at their 4th Annual Artsy-whatever festival. It was about 20 city blocks long and elbow-to-elbow people. Worse than the Sturgis Rally!! But the weather was incredible. 70* and no wind.

The Tucson skyline was so beautiful on the way home and there was a full moon. We both LOVE Tucson. Good thing we are only 40 miles away in Benson.

God bless each of you and thank you for keeping up with us!!! THAT makes us SMILE and feel good! xoxo

Russian Mountain Dog!!

Today we met a Russian Mountain Dog. He is three years old and weighs 180# !! Apparently they were not allowed outside of Russia until very recently and are rarely found in the U.S. This one's name is "Nat" which is short for some long, I-can't-remember-pedigree name. The family lives in British Columbia and are farmers. Nat is the guard dog for the livestock as well as the family home. COOL!!! He was super friendly but the owner said when he's on his turf, he stops ANY potential intruders. I bet he works well for solicitors too!!!!

The Safeway store is right next door to our RV Resort and is a very nice store.

This afternoon we went for an ice cream cone at a little place in downtown Benson. I had a butterscotch "dip cone," and couldn't eat the whole thing!!

Then I prepared a package for Ted Bundy, got on my bicycle and rode to the post office to mail it. Oh..... yeah..... the post office is across the street. :)

Now it's getting chillier and a hoody is a necessity!!

Grateful to the Lord for many things today. Even while missing grandchildren, there are many things to be grateful for. :)

Wednesday morning... SUNSHINE!!!

It's Wednesday morning, the sun is shining and we are smiling, in spite of having to DEFROST the windshield this morning!! Had the best night's sleep YET at Walmart's parking lot!!!

Today we will go to Tucson and have our RV satellite tweaked.

You ought to see DB drive that RV! He flipped a u-turn in the middle of the road in front of an oncoming bus and got us turned around, it was beautiful!!!!! He ram-rods that thing with complete confidence. Love it!

We are sitting at Denny's drinking what tastes like the finest cup of coffee I've ever had....... And will be on the road shortly.

LOVE LOVE LOVE all our kids! You know who you are, and if your ears are ringing lots, it's because you all are our favorite topic it seems!!!

Tuesday night...."...

Made it to El Paso, TX !!

Parked at Walmart .... Yes, I realize we now are the dip parking lot RV'ers....... But we are only going to be here tonight!!

Tomorrow (Wednesday), we will go to Tucson

Changing Routes!

After driving through this FRIGID weather as we've left the Ft. Worth area, we decided to take I-20 all the way to I-10 and go to El Paso and/or Anthiny, NM. It is so cold here!!! Snow on both sides of roadway, on vehicles and getting colder.

Boo!!!!!

Tuesday, Dec. 6 route........

Hi!!

We are planning on leaving Granbury, TX in the morning and heading to Carlsbad, NM. The weather isn't great ANYWHERE it seems, between here and California!! Our satellite is down for some reason and we are hoping to get to a 'Camping World' along the way, to have it serviced.

We've had a truly wonderful, memorable time here !!!

We've visited my brother John and his wife Martha and their two fantastic dogs, Tug and Rosie; nieces Dawn and Mandy and their families; nephew Ryan and his family; and even got to visit son, John, yesterday as he is here on business. It was a great, great BONUS!! We have had had lots of tears and laughs..... Including the excitement of attending TD Jakes' church on Sunday. As if that wasn't enough to make me feel like I needed an oxygen mask, It was a really fun surprise to see, in the same service, Oprah, Gayle King and Tyler Perry!!

Thanks to John and Martha, tonight, for the first time, DB and I had Ben & Jerry's ice cream!!!

Texas has been fun and eventful!!

Looking forward to tomorrow and thanking God for everything.

God bless you, and we pray always, missing all of you that we love so much.

Pictures in Childress, TX

The "streamline" camper with clothes on the clothesline had to be photographed!

We found an "old car" museum but there were so many cars, there's no way we could have captured them all on camera.

Quite a painting on the side of a big building

and this drive thru is offering Burgers, Barbecue, Catfish and Shrimp. Welcome to Texas!

Wednesday morning. 11-30-11

Hello there!

Was having second thoughts about blogging until our friend John Huggins gave us some excellent, tried and true advice. Here on the blog we can most easily track, maintain our travels. (Thank you John!)

Last night we stayed at Best Western RV Park in Childress, TX. The park has 6 sites. Yes, six. haha. And it's right next to a pretty busy highway so we heard 'them truckers rollin'' all night long but got a good night's sleep in spite of that. Also, as I look at the window above DB's chair to the right of the camper, there are COWS GRAZING!!! I could pass out! I love it! So far I've restrained myself from going out there and yelling, "Good morning cowy cowy!" ha.

This RV Park is part of the Best Western Motel so they additionally offer their continental breakfast to the RV'ers for the nightly price of $25 + tax. There are no restroom/shower-type facilities which is insignificant if your RV is equipped with that stuff.

We are going to stay here another night, even though the weather forecast says tomorrow's high is 40* !!!! WHA???? FORTY?!!!!! You'd think we were still in South Dakota!!

Today we assembled the VERY COOL bottled water dispenser that John & Mandy gave us. It is sooooooo cool! Can't wait to buy a big ole jug of water and place on the base/stand.

Tomorrow we will travel to Granbury (Ft. Worth area) which is about a 4.5 hour trip.
REALLY looking FORWARD to seeing FAMILY as I am so terribly MISSING FAMILY! Two opposite ends of the nation but family is family. ;)

We made it to Garden City, KS !!

Finally! We made it! Now sitting here with my new "Snuggy" and of course, on Black Friday, Mary insisted I get the KERMIT design. So me and Kermie having a cup of tea. Miss Piggy won't be happy when she hears about THIS shenanigans!!!

The Dodge rolled right along today and our worst gas mileage was 12.9 per gallon, so DB was happy. The best mileage (for those of you who care) was 14-something. DB did an EXCELLENT job driving that big beastly truck and never complained once about being tired, even though he has a terrible head cold!

Then once we got here to the RV Park, I was absolutely amazed at all the work he has to do in order to get this house-on-wheels set up!! It's unbelieveable! Again, no complaints at all from him. He's really something.

We're probably going to stay here 2 nights so we can check out the area. Neither of us have been here before so we think that's a pretty good plan.

I told him today that I had forgotten the instructions on how to complete a crocheted prayer shawl I am making ..... that I had left them in my other crochet bag "at home." Then I grinned and said, "But it's right there behind us in the camper!!!! THAT is home!" Loved it.

DB just spoke to my brother John and we are REALLY looking forward to seeing them the end of this week. A really COOL side note is that John (our son) is in Dallas this week for work, so we'll get to see him too!!

And.......... I am so excited, that DB and I are going to go to Dallas to The Potter's House on Sunday, with pastor "Bishop TD Jakes." I know I know. I'm going to seize out in the parking lot and will have to be carried in on a stretcher. j/k hehehehehe

Okay - "over and out" for now in Garden City, KS. Will keep you all posted!!

THANK YOU FOR READING! We miss EVERYONE!!!! xoxoxoxoxo

Southbound on HWY 83

White River SD..... On the Rosebud Reservation..... Sun shining beautifully. I have Internet with my MiFi !!!

Eastbound on I-90

6:51 a.m. And we are about about 20 miles east of Rapid City. Checked the air pressure in tires on both vehicles. Just realized we are driving along the Interstate and we have our house with us!!

Getting ready to leave......

Said goodbye today to all these little angels. WOW, very tough.

I have to keep reminding myself that it's temporary and that DB and I are starting out on a new adventure *together* !

Our plan is to leave in the morning (Monday) at 5:00 a.m. and go east on I-90 to Murdo where we will turn south on Highway 83 and hopefully get to Garden City, KS before bedtime.

I miss everyone already. More than I can describe.

SNOW on the camper........

THIS is why we are looking forward to pulling out of Hart Ranch one week from today, Monday, Nov. 28th.

It is CHILLY WILLY in the camper as snow doesn't make for the best insulation!!

For the remained of this week temps are forecast in the 50*s ..... thank Heavens!

Had a brief but SWEET visit with the grandkids last night and today. Taking advantage of any time available with them this week.

3 sleeps til Thanksgiving and 4 sleeps til Black Friday!

Count down.........

In a few days we'll be flying to Mexico for a week to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this year and then return home the 20th to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday in Rapid City.

Monday the 28th we'll be leaving for the winter, traveling south to Texas to see my brother and then will "land" in Benson, AZ until January 20th.

I'm posting a picture of Benson taken recently by our friends John and Kathy Huggins who are currently living at this RV park.

The week of the 28th I will be posting and updating this blog often, telling of our "pit stops" along the way and hopefully will have some pictures to share too!

Love, Peej

Bond, James Bond ... and Benson, AZ or Bust

DB and I ran into 2 dear old friends today....... "007" and "99," Glen and Cindy Johnson. They looked exactly the same as last time we saw them .... almost ten years ago probably!! Had a great mini-reunion in the parking lot of the Mall. They are in Peoria AZ now so we may be visiting them on their turf this winter. :)

NEXT exciting NEWS FLASH ..... we have reservations for Butterfield RV Resort and Observatory in Benson, AZ from December 20, 2011 - January 20, 2012.

>>> Thank you John and Kathy Huggins for your great advice and helpfulness. <<<

Surgery, Mexico, Thanksgiving, Black Friday ... then TX and AZ bound!!!

Here's what we know for sure (as far as our schedule goes)....

This Tuesday, DB has surgery on his wrist. Carpal tunnel AND they are completely removing a wrist bone. (ouch!) Doc said his recovery is 10-12 weeks...... I know for a fact however, he has a GREAT nurse!!!! :) :) :)

The 10th of November we go to Mexico. We come home on Sunday the 20th, Thanksgiving is the following Thursday (24th), Black Friday the 25th, and then we'll leave SD on Monday or Tuesday (28th/29th).

First destination is brother John's in Dallas/Fort Worth area and after a week-long visit, we'll start traveling EAST (about the 15th of December).

Looking at the RV Park where our friends John and Kathy Huggins are in Benson, AZ ..... we think that may be a good place to land for awhile! Especially after I learned that next door to the park is ................ a SAFEWAY store!!!! :)

Any and all comments, suggestions, hints, tips and tricks welcomed.

We are now thinking that Kerrville TX, near San Antonio, will be too far away from the family we'd like to visit in the Ft. Worth area, so looking at the map for possible RV Parks nearer the Big D.

Also contemplating NM as a possible landing pad in December.

This is all part of the "fun" of this lifestyle I guess! Can't hardly think about being so far away from our SD family over Christmas, so my mind is foggy about all of this. AND we have a little time yet.

That, together with DB's scheduled surgery on his wrist one week from today. Carpal tunnel and they are removing a bone! eek. Sounds scary and they said his recovery is a good 10-12 weeks. I'll be busy with nurse duty for awhile. :)

We've already made some GREAT friends though, out here at Hart Ranch, and look forward to all the new people we're going to be meeting. God bless everyone and thanks for reading our blog!

Texas Bound for December??

Spoke today with Jerry Jaeger, parked across from us at Hart Ranch. Every winter he and his wife go to Guadalupe River Resort RV Park in Kerrville, TX. Looks like that might be a good place for us in December.
The more people we talk to, the more we learn and are hearing some discouraging things about the Phoenix AZ area in regard to crime rate, cost of RV parks and congested areas/restaurants/traffic.
So for our first month "out there" we are looking very seriously at Guadalupe. Check out the website - it looks very nice!
